NATURAL LIVING AND AYURVEDA
Ayurveda is an ancient Indian system of healing and natural living. It is made up of 2 words- ”Ayur” which means Life and ”Veda” which means Science or Knowledge. The sages of India passed this divine knowledge verbally to their later generations until the information was collated into written form more than 5000 years ago.
The texts on Ayurveda lays out the effect of the five elements of nature – earth, water, air, fire and space on our individual system. It is important to keep a healthy balance between these elements in order to achieve a healthy mind, body and soul. Ayurveda also says that there are certain elements more dominant in certain individuals. A healthy diet and lifestyle change is also necessary with change of seasons. Ayurveda provides guidance on how to make adjustment in order to achieve a balanced lifestyle with changes in natural environment around us- change is Seasons.
Ayurveda propagates that an individual’s diet and lifestyle will be different from others based on their own natural constitutions called ”doshas”. These doshas can be roughly translated as vital bioenergies in human bodies.
- Vata dosha- This is where the air and space elements dominate
- Pitta dosha- This is where the the fire element dominates
- Kapha dosha- This is where the the earth and water elements dominate
By understanding the qualities of our natural constitution it becomes easier to balance our human system and achieve a healthier and balanced lifestyle.
Understanding these various Doshas require a serious study of Ayurveda and it is important to consult a registered Ayurvedic Practitioner. In this page I have only included an introductory information on Ayurveda. I have personally experienced wonderful improvements in my health and well-being by resorting to Ayurveda and it is my aim to share this secret so that more and more people can achieve the benefits just like me.
